The story takes you from not so innocent villagers to a Punjabi styled dance to misplaced Priyanka Chopra song and back to riot torn village. The integral elements of the movie - dialogues, screenplay, and performances have been poorly executed. Deepika looks gorgeous and Ranveer extremely well toned. If they had only stick to looking good... Both the actors deliver over the top performances that are devoid of the energy, excitement, innocence, and passion associated with young love. Each one of their scenes looks like a 'rush' to reach the end. Supporting cast brings some hope to the movie but is not sufficient to save the day. The movie is focused on enforcing 'a formula' without the Bhansali vision and thought we became accustomed to after HDDCS and Devdas.

However for me the best moment in the film was the press conference given (standing side by side) by the American president and the British Prime Minister. I actually felt like standing up and cheering when Hugh Grant (as the Prime Minister) finally tells the American president to his face and in front of the worlds press that Britain will no longer kowtow to American wishes but will have an independent view of its own.

Considering that America is the biggest market for movies it was extremely brave of Richard Curtis to write this scene and he deserves a lot of credit for portraying the American president as rather loathsome and putting into context what the `Special Relationship' really is all about.

I haven't seen a move like this in a very long time and was very refreshing. The highlight of the film for me at least from a acting stand point is Ezra Miller really funny, but very heartfelt at the same time. Don't get me wrong the whole case is amazing (Emma Watson was perfect for this after HP) but Ezra really stands out. Stephen Chbosky really cared about this book, and it really shows in this film. Him Directing and writing his own book was a amazing idea.
